National Apprenticeship Week 2014 - Day 1

National Apprenticeship Week 2014 - Day 1

Monday 3rd March - NAW2014 Round up...

Information Desk

Throughout the week an Apprenticeship Information Desk has been set in the reception area of Calderdale College. Course guides and #NAW2014 leaflets are free to take and a member of the Apprenticeship Team will be there between 8:30am – 9:30am and 12pm – 1pm to answer any questions.

Out and About with Gordon:

Gordon Simpson, our Employer Engagement Officer, was at Halifax High School talking about the Apprenticeships on offer at Calderdale College. He spoke to learners about the qualifications and the Apprenticeship route. He detailed how this can be an excellent next step for those young people looking at other options than staying in full time education.

Recommend a Friend

To celebrate National Apprenticeship Week 2014, Calderdale Training launched their RECOMMEND A FRIEND incentive. Any person who recommends a friend, who is then successively matched to an employer (and in place for over six weeks) is entitled to a £20 incentive payment. Anyone interested can contact the Apprenticeship Team on 01422 399325 or email

Education Done Differently (EDD) – College information System

Any computer on the Francis Street Campus, accessible by a Calderdale College student is set up with an EDD information icon on its desktop. News, trends and information can be clicked on for students wishing to find out about any item listed. This week Calderdale Training has engaged with the EDD system to promote Apprenticeships and the Let’s Talk Apprenticeships Juice Morning taking place on Thursday. If you are a current student, log on to a computer to find out more information.

A Week in the Life of Our Winner

Joshua Bates, 2013 Regional Award Winner, has agreed to be followed around this week. We will be capturing him in his every day working life as an Advanced Business Administration Apprentice within the busy Marketing Department at Calderdale College. Today Josh gave us a glimpse of his shiny award as he got started with his tasks for the day. What will he be up to tomorrow?
